Some have said Ryan Furstenberg’s voice brings to mind a cool mountain stream, or tobacco leaves swept by the Eastern North Carolina breeze. With that rich and southern accented baritone, the accomplished guitarist, banjo player and convention-bucking songwriter can’t help showing his NC roots. But Furstenberg doesn’t stay earthbound; he has spent the past decade or so performing throughout the United States and Western Europe. Both as a solo act, a member of rock trio Uncle Mountain, and as half of The Moon and You – an indie folk duo based in Asheville, NC – Furstenberg is making a name for himself by never sounding quite like anyone else.
